Lauren Davis is an American artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Davis received her BFA from Parsons the New School for Design in 2014 and her MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2017 in Norway. Her work has been included at Fotogalleriet, Melk Galleri, Kunstnerneshus in Oslo and SADE Gallery in Los Angeles. She was nominated for the 2017 BKH Photographic Art Award and is a gracious recipient of support from Arts Council Norway.

An interdisciplinary artist, Davis’ work considers human form as an inanimate object. Specifically, she contemplates the lack of language surrounding institutionalized racism and how this inarticulation can transfigure black bodies. Across mediums her work is fleshy and organic, exploring language, autonomy, and dismemberment with explicit morbidity and subtle peculiarity.
